Mexico’s Christian Vizl finalist at Sony World Photography Awards

London (Notimex).- Mexican photographer Christian Vizl is a finalist in the wildlife category of the Sony World Photography Awards 2017.
More than 227 thousand images were sent to the jury, whp selected the best of the world’s photography in the ten categories that includes Landscape, Daily Life and Portrait, among others.
In an interview with Notimex, Vizl said he has always been close to the sea, first starting as a diving instructor. But it was in 2010 when he chose professional photography.
On the series of selected images known as «Silent Kingdom», Vizl said that for the first time he experimented with colors in sepia since his works were in black and white and color.
One of the selected images was taken in Cabo Pulmo National Park in Baja California, northern Mexico, a protected area that is an example of global conservation that has had a successful biodiversity recovery.
Vizl said his work seeks to convey a message of conservation of the oceans and to «be a voice for the sea».
The series of images includes two photographs of sharks and a giant Mantaray in the Revillagigedo Islands, as well as a manatee of Xcalac in the state of Quintana Roo in southern Mexico.
In the wildlife category, the jury chose about 100 images from 49 countries.
The winners will be announced on April 20, and the following day an exhibition of the finalists will open in Somerset House.
